My Ellington Fountain Pen Broke
What happened?
My regular readers know that I like to write with a fountain pen. I thought it time to give my newest fountain pen a clean. It’s easy to do, just flush them out and allow to dry. This is my Ellington pen that I reviewed last November. I was pleased with the pen and have been using daily until cleaning it. You can read the review below.
I gave the pen a rest for a short while as I had inked an older pen whilst it was drying. The day came to refill the Ellington, it uses a cartridge converter, and there’s a problem. After inserting the pen into my bottle of Parker’s Quick Ink, the converter failed to draw up the ink. Upon examining the converter it could be seen that the plunger had broken off from the shaft. The shaft was moving up the barrel but could not draw any ink.
What happens next?
Well, Ellington have a guarantee with their pens, so will they honour it? A company is only as good as its after sales service.
I sent an email as the website requests , along with a description of the fault, purchase details and a photo of the cartidge converter showing the detachment of the plunger.
True to their word, Ellington replied quickly and sent not one but two replacements. That’s probably because they sell cartridge converters in a box of two. Not only does the pen write well, I know can say with certain that the guarantee is genuine. A big thank you to Ellington Pens for their excellent service.
