The Rolagram is here!
move over Instagram
I don’t know how you feel, but if you’re an Instagram user (the photo-sharing platform owned by Meta/Facebook), you are probably frustrated. Meta likes to share photos with you from people you don’t follow. It used to be the occasional photo, but now there are many filling our timelines. Personally, I find it time-consuming and intrusive. To that end, I rarely use it, and many others I know feel the same way.
A few days ago, I read a list of suggestions for alternative posts. One of them was to share photos. What a good idea! I am going to call this Rolagram. From time to time, I will send you a Rolagram, and if you would like to share a photo for me to include, email me at email@example.com
I take plenty of photos, and it will be good to share some with you, especially when they have not been included in an article. These days, I take all my photos on my iPhone 14 or occasionally with the DJI Osmo Pocket 2. The latter is mainly my video camera, but I can use it for stills when more convenient, such as during a video shoot for my YouTube channel.
To improve my photography skills, I have been learning quite a lot recently, and I hope that will be apparent in the photos you see. The iPhone has a lovely Portrait Mode, and to see how well that works in isolating a subject from the background, take a look at the photos of my grandson below.
I am looking forward to sending some Rolagrams, so please do let me know what you think.
