I love the idea of protecting nature. It’s great when inventions come along that help our wild creatures survive amidst the chaos we humans are creating.
It was around 2016 when a new road opened in my home town, slicing its way through open countryside between Trowbridge and the village of Hilperton. The strange object you can see in the above photo appeared.
Was this some new form of mobile phone mast? Maybe an alien spaceship warning system? No. It’s a bat crossing! The idea is that these furry flying mammals will use this to cross the road safely. I am not sure if all the local bats were invited to attend a training course so they would know what this strange new thing was. Whether or not they received training, a number of them have been built across England.
Do they work? Please watch the video and you will find out. You will also find out the staggering cost of constructing them. Someone, somewhere is drinking champagne!
